The collection’s publishing history is unusual ~ Montgomery did not authorise it. Her former American publisher gathered fifteen previously-published short stories from his earlier rights to her work and issued them as a sequel to the 1912 Chronicles, prompting a long legal dispute that Montgomery eventually won. The stories themselves are early Montgomery and are a fascinating glimpse of the short fiction she was writing in the years before Anne of Green Gables made her name.
